Ten pigs' heads were left outside a mosque in England two days after the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, it emerged today.
They were strewn around the car park outside the Islamic Centre of the South West in Exeter, said a Devon and Cornwall police spokesman.
Police were called to the mosque in York Road just before midnight on Thursday of last week.
The incident was today described as "a local act of vandalism" by the Devon and Cornwall force. "It is being treated extremely seriously, and we are working extremely closely with leaders of the Islamic centre," said a spokesman.
