Santiago - Former Chilean dictator Gen Augusto Pinochet will be formally questioned on October 9th about human rights abuses committed during his almost 17-year rule, a Chilean judge announced yesterday. Judge Juan Guzman refused to say where the questioning would take place but made clear that the choice of location could be left to the former dictator.
On August 8th, the Chilean Supreme Court upheld a lower court ruling that stripped Gen Pinochet (84) of his parliamentary immunity, paving the way for his prosecution in connection with human rights abuses during his 1973-1990 regime.
