Athletics:Double amputee runner Oscar Pistorius's appeal against his Olympic ban will heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on April 29 and 30.
In January the International Association of Athletics Federations announced the South African would not be able to compete against able-bodied athletes as the 'cheetah' blades on which he ran gave him a clear advantage.
Pistorius disputes this claim and hopes that now a hearing date has been set he will still have time to qualify for the 400m in Beijing if he is successful.
"I am very appreciative of the Court of Arbitration for Sport setting a schedule that will allow a decision in time for me to pursue my goal of qualifying for the Olympics," said Pistorius, who will submit his own evidence on the impact of his blades after research by a world-renowned team of experts," said Pistorius.
"This case is important not just to me, but to all disabled persons who just ask for the chance to compete fairly on the sporting field with able-bodied athletes," he added.
