Nicosia - Cyprus police said yesterday they had arrested three Arabs and a Yugoslav suspected of planning to dump nuclear waste from a former Soviet republic off the coast of the island. They swooped on the four men in the southern town of Limassol after a sting operation.

They said a tanker carrying the dangerous cargo was already on its way to Cyprus. Police have not identified the four men, who are being questioned. According to press reports here, the three Arab nationals are from Lebanon.
