The Dutch government is drawing up plans which would require all immigrants, including EU nationals, to sign contracts agreeing to uphold the constitution and rule of law. This could put it in conflict with Brussels over free movement of labour.
Deputy prime minister Lodewijk Asscher said “advocating the free movement of people without paying proper attention to the problems it can cause will only lead to a more anti-social Europe.
“We are already seeing cultural integration breaking down. We are moving backwards in the way we view homosexuality, Jews and women.”
