A plaque to mark the 20th anniversary of IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands's election to the House of Commons is to be unveiled later today.
Ms Michelle Gildernew, Sinn Féin's Westminster candidate for the Fermanagh and South Tyrone seat won by Sands in a 1981 by-election will unveil the memorial outside the old Enniskillen office in Co Fermanagh used during his campaign.
Ms Gildernew said: "Nineteen eighty-one saw Republicans dramatically break out of an isolation that the British and unionists were seeking to impose. It was in many ways the start of the process of building political strength."
