A Catholic priest has appealed for the formal identification of a body said to be that of Eamon Molloy, who was killed and secretly buried by the Provisional IRA 24 years ago. The Provisional IRA left the remains in a coffin in a cemetery in Dundalk, Co Louth, nearly a month ago. The authorities in the Republic have yet to identify the body. A priest speaking for the family, Father Patrick McCafferty, yesterday said the body must be identified "as a matter of urgency".
Speaking on BBC Radio Ulster, he said: "The family is very distressed at the delay. The anguish they are going through is indescribable. They don't know when this is going to end. They have a funeral in front of them but they don't know when."
