Former Republic of Ireland under-21 star Des Byrne and Chelsea defender John Terry were today being questioned by police after an alleged altercation at a nightclub.
Byrne (20) and Terry (21) were arrested early this morning after an incident involving a member of staff and two customers at the Wellington Club in central London.
Scotland Yard said a 28-year old receptionist suffered a half-inch cut to the cheek and was seen by ambulance crew at the scene.
"Two men aged 21 and 20 were arrested for alleged assault and taken to Belgravia Police Station," said a Scotland Yard spokeswoman.
Byrne plays his club football with first division side Wimbledon but has appeared only four times this season.
He previously played League of Ireland football with St Patrick's Athletic.
Terry is a current England Under-21 international and has played 21 games for Chelsea this season.
