Two men were arrested today in connection with the murder of a father-of-six in Belfast.
Dissident republicans were blamed at the time for killing Mr Daniel McGurk (35), who was shot in his home at Ross Road in the lower Falls area of Belfast in mid-August.
His mother said he was killed because he stood up to "thugs and drug dealers".
Three men shot him five times in the chest and legs when he opened the front door to them. He died a short time later in the nearby Royal Victoria Hospital.
Police said the two men arrested for questioning about the murder were detained in the city earlier today.
At the time of the killing police said they were keeping an open mind about who was responsible, but Det Supt Hugo Frew said the possible involvement of dissident republicans was being examined.
"The people who carried this out intended to terrorise the entire community," Det Supt Hugo Frew said.
