Police in North hold two over weapons find

A man and a woman are in custody following last night's seizure of weapons and a timing device in Co Fermanagh.

A man and a woman are in custody following last night's seizure of weapons and a timing device in Co Fermanagh.

The two were arrested shortly after the weapons were recovered.

The find was made during a security operation on the Lettergreen Road near Donagh and is expected to continue into today. The discovery included three guns and a quantity of ammunition.

Chief Insp John Maxwell said he was "delighted that these weapons, ammunition and timer power unit have been recovered … and I have no doubt that lives have been saved by this find".

The security operation came following a bomb attack on an Enniskillen Police station on the 10th of February. That attack injured six officers and was blamed on the Continuity IRA.
