Princess Diana's former butler was yesterday released on bail after being arrested by British police on suspicion of theft of the late princess's belongings, police sources said yesterday. Mr Paul Burrell, whom the princess called "my rock" for his devotion and loyalty, was questioned after officers raided his home in Chester at dawn on Thursday.
The arrest was one of three made after a gem-encrusted model of a boat, a wedding present to Diana and Prince Charles from the Emir of Bahrain, was found on sale in a London antique shop last year.
Mr Burrell was later released and ordered to report to a central London police station next month.
