Five men held under counter-terrorism laws close to a nuclear reprocessing plant in north west England have been released without charge, police said tonight.
"I can confirm they've all be released without charge ... there are no warrants for their (further) detention under terrorism laws," added a spokesman for the police's North West Counter Terrorism Unit.
The men, all aged in their 20s and from London, were arrested on Monday after officers conducted a routine stop-check on a vehicle near the Sellafield site in Cumbria.
Police held the men after the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, the force that guards nuclear sites, reported suspicions about their activities near to the perimeter fence.
The arrests were made after prime minister David Cameron urged Britain to remain vigilant against potential reprisals following the killing of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan by US forces.
