London - BBC executives have handed over footage of a father who was filmed searching for his family in his native Israel and now stands accused of killing his two children, it emerged yesterday.

Mr Erez Tivoni has been charged with the murder of his daughter, Avital, aged one, and son Jeffrey, aged four, who died after being doused with petrol and set alight in a Tel Aviv battered wives' refuge where their mother had fled after years of beatings. The baby died immediately from burns, while the boy died three weeks later. The corporation promised to co-operate with Israeli police after paying the man, who arrived in Britain saying he had amnesia, expenses "running into hundreds of pounds" and sending a film crew to accompany him to Tel Aviv to search for his family. The BBC also paid his air fare, although it was reimbursed by a London social services department.
