A CURFEW for juvenile offenders, which judges could impose at their discretion, is one of a series of measures being considered by Fianna Fail for a policy document on crime.
Yesterday's meeting of the parliamentary party heard a submission from a Sligo based solicitor, Ms Mary Devins, on crime by young people. She suggested that the curfew might be considered, adding that the parents of young offenders would be responsible for imposing it after a judge had deemed it appropriate.
Failing this, social services might have to intervene. A curfew could also be linked to supervised community work, she said.
