POLLING:THE LATEST national opinion poll shows Fine Gael support surging ahead while the Fianna Fáil vote continues to fall.

The results of the poll carried out by Millward Brown/ Lansdowne for the Irish Independentcompared to the last poll by the same company two weeks ago are: Fine Gael 38 per cent (up 8 points); Labour 23 per cent (down 1 point); Fianna Fáil 12 per cent (down 4 points); Sinn Féin 10 per cent (down 3 points) Green Party 1 per cent (no change); and Independents/Others 16 per cent (up 1 point).

Enda Kenny is the only leader whose satisfaction rating has increased since the last Irish Independentpoll – he stands at 30 per cent (up 3 points). Micheál Martin's rating is 42 per cent (down 2 points); Eamon Gilmore stands at 41 per cent (down 5); Gerry Adams is at 26 per cent (down 5) and John Gormley is at 13 per cent (down 1).

The poll was conducted between Saturday and Monday, before RTÉ’s leaders’ debate.
