Cricket:Captain William Porterfield's 81 underpinned a three-wicket victory for Ireland which today gave them a 1-0 lead in their one-day international series against Kenya at Castle Avenue in Clontarf.
After the tourists chose to bat first, an opening stand of 80 between Kennedy Otieno (78) and David Obuya laid the foundations for a total of 214 for nine.
But off-spinner Kyle McCallan’s four for 30 restricted any late charge, and Ireland’s reply was always on track.
Opener Porterfield did the hard work, and Ireland batted down the order to finish the job with seven balls to spare - despite four for 33 from seamer Thomas Odoyo.
