The FAI has said the third-round cup tie between Portmarnock and Dundalk will be played behind closed doors this Sunday but are not naming the venue.

This is to try and stop fans attending to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease. The only confirmed case of the virus in the State is on the Cooley Peninsula in Co Louth, about 10 miles from Dundalk town.

The match, originally scheduled for February 3rd,was officially given go-ahead by the FAI after it held talks with the Department of Agriculture.

The third-round tie had dragged on amid rows over venues before being hit by the foot-and-mouth precautions. It has been postponed five times to date. The winners will face Longford Town in the quarter-finals.
