An Post services face may disruption following the threat of limited industrial action by staff at 1700 post offices around the country.

An Post’s Communications Director, Mr John Foley, said this evening the company is preparing a response to a threat of limited industrial action by around 600 postal workers.

Yesterday, An Post received a letter from the Irish Postmasters' Union detailing grievances over pay and other matters, amongst postal contractors.

The postmasters and mistresses say they will begin industrial action on August 19th and refuse to open local sorting offices before 8 am.

Mr Foley said the company hope to meet with the union to avert the strike.
