A postmortem examination carried out on the body of a man who collapsed in a cell at Terenure Garda station in Dublin on Sunday morning has proved inconclusive. The postmortem was carried out by the Deputy State Pathologist, Dr Michael Curtis.

Garda investigators are now awaiting the results of toxicology tests on samples taken from the body of Mark Reidy (32) to see if they can identify the precise cause of his death.

Mr Reidy, from Drimnagh, was arrested at approximately 2.55am on Sunday on foot of a warrant and was detained at Terenure Garda station.

It is understood that he was due to be questioned about a number of minor drug-related offences. Gardaí said that when they checked on him at about 8am he could not be roused.
