A postmortem examination will be carried out today on a teenage boy who died at a school in Athlone yesterday.
Zeeshan Muhammed (16) collapsed in the playground of the school after class yesterday afternoon.
A teacher at the Marist College went to his aid and he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A postmortem examination will take place at Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe, Co Galway. The teenager's classmates are expected to gather at the school later today for a prayer service.
Zeeshan was the third child to suffer a sudden death in f Ireland this week after other incidents in Cos Tyrone and Westmeath.
Originally from Pakistan, Zeeshan joined the Marist school three years ago where he was described as a grade A student who excelled in his studies.
