Postmortems are due to be carried out today on the bodies of a man and a woman discovered in the Grand Canal in Dublin yesterday.
The bodies were discovered shortly after mid-day yesterday by a member of the public in the Grand Canal at Suir Road bridge in Inchicore.
The scene was preserved and the services of the Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist were requested. Gardaí at Kilmainham are investigating.
Locals said the area is a notorious drinking spot.

"You would get a lot of homeless and underage drinking under that bridge. I assume people go under there because it is hidden," local resident Tony Healy said.
