Birmingham Football Club today confirmed they would be active in the transfer window after announcing pre-tax profits of £5.6 million sterling for the year ending August 31st, 2004 .
The figure of profit before deductions for tax and interest represents a 61 per cent increase from the previous year's figures, with the club pointing to increased revenue from commercial activities as key to the results.
Chairman David Sullivan said: "I am delighted to report that Birmingham City Football Club has had a satisfactory year."
The club's turnover rose from £36.5million in 2003 to £45.3million, while the pre-tax profit climbed from £3.5million.
"We continue to put all our energy into establishing ourselves as a Premier League football club, both on and off the pitch," said Sullivan.
"Whilst the business environment within football remains difficult, particularly in controlling wages, I am confident that we have the strategy and personnel to continue to take the club forward."
Chief executive Karren Brady confirmed that manager Steve Bruce would have the support of the board this month as he seeks to add new personnel.
"We intend to go back into the transfer market during the January 2005 window with a view to strengthening the squad," said Brady.
