A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, who is five months pregnant, were kicked and punched by a mob in south Belfast yesterday morning, it has emerged.
The serious assault was reported to police yesterday after the two were treated in hospital for injuries.
The couple were set upon by a group of up to 20 people as they walked along Milltown Road at about 1am, police said.
The man received a dislocated shoulder, cuts and bruising, while the woman suffered severe swelling to her back and neck, as well as bruising to her back, hands and arms.

A sectarian motive is not suspected in the attack. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
