Police were tonight hunting two men after a pregnant woman was shot in the back of the leg following a minor car accident.
The 26-year-old woman, who is four months pregnant, was travelling with her two children, aged seven and four, when she was involved in the collision with a BMW in Streatham, south London.
The BMW driver and the woman left their cars to discuss the accident when a front-seat passenger in the BMW got out and shot the woman in the back of the leg. The two men then drove off.
Police said the woman, who was taken to a south London hospital suffering from a gunshot wound, was in a "stable" condition.
Detective Inspector Rory Hardy, who is leading the investigation with Detective Sergeant Dickie Bird, said: "This was a callous and unprovoked attack on an innocent woman.
"The gunman must have known she was with two young children and his actions show a total disregard for human life.
