Preparations are being made to recover an RNLI lifeboat that was swept onto rocks during a rescue off Rathlin Island last month.

The £2 million Katie Hannonended up on the rocks close to the harbour on Rathlin Island - seven miles off Ballycastle - after going to the rescue of a fishing boat on January 29th.

Salvage experts are to use a barge fitted with crane in a bid to hoist the stranded vessel. Part of the lifeboat as well as the two engines and gear box have already been removed.

The roll-on roll-off Terra Mariquefrom England has been brought in as part of the operation.
