Brussels - The European Union should admit up to 75 million immigrants over the next 50 years and be prepared to become a racially hybrid society, according to a French paper to be discussed at an EU ministerial meeting today.
The document, based on a UN survey, says the population of the EU and its applicants will fall over the next half-century from 730 million to 638 million while the world's population will grow from six to nine billion. Immigrants, mostly from developing countries, would be needed to fill the vacuum.
