The President, Mrs McAleese, spoke by telephone with the Spanish Deputy Prime Minister yesterday and conveyed her sympathy at the death of the Spanish child and student leader in the Omagh bombing.

She also sent messages to all the hospitals which have been dealing with the casualties.

Tomorrow she plans to attend the funeral of three young boys from Buncrana who died in Omagh.

Discussions are still taking place about the arrangements for an ecumenical service in Omagh, which she plans to attend. She will also be present at the special service next Sunday in St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin.
