The President of Ireland, Mrs McAleese, is visiting Mountjoy prison this afternoon.
President McAleese: visiting women prisoners in Mountjoy Jail
She is visiting the women's prison - the Dochas Centre - which opened in 1999 and accommodates some 90 women.
She will join the prisoners for Christmas lunch and then view a performance of a nativity play written and performed by several of the women prisoners.
Mrs McAleese is being taken on the a tour of the women's prison by the Governor of Mounjoy Prison Mr John Lonergan, and the Governor of the Dochas Centre, Ms Kathleen McMahon .
