The President, Mrs Robinson, renewed her call for peace and reconciliation in Ireland, presiding at a ceremony marking the tercentenary of the Huguenot founded St Paul's Church in Portarlington, Co Laois, on Saturday.
Referring to the late Senator Gordon Wilson, she said: "Gordon Wilson gave us a shining example of what was meant by really working for peace and reconciliation. It doesn't just happen." It had to be built very consciously and very deliberately and had to be done by the whole civil society, she said.
