THE President, Mrs Robinson, and the Taoiseach were represented at the funeral of Mrs Gretchen Crosbie in Cork yesterday. Mrs Crosbie, who was wife of the Examiner Publications chairman, Mr Ted Crosbie, was killed in a car accident near Abbeyleix last Friday.
The President was represented at the Requiem Mass at St Patrick's Church by Capt Mary, Jo O'Sullivan. Capt Maurice McQuillan represented Mr Bruton.
The chief celebrant was Father Finbarr Kelleher PP, Cldyne, a cousin of Mrs Crosbie. Prayers were said by Bishop John Buckley, Auxiliary Bishop of Cork.
Mrs Crosbie is survived by her husband, Ted her children, Suzanne, Elizabeth, Tom, Andrew, Edward and Sophie her mother, Mrs Sophie Kelleher four brothers and a sister.
The mourners included Mr Alan Crosbie, chief executive of Examiner Publications Mr Louis O'Neill, group managing director and deputy chief executive of The Irish Times, Mr David Palmer, managing director of Independent Newspapers Mr Finbarr Cullen, director of National Newspapers of Ireland Mr Terry Reilly, managing director of the Western People, Mr Liam O'Regan, proprietor of the Southern Star and representatives of Harvey Printers.
On Monday, at the removal of the remains, The Irish Times was represented by Mr Derek McCullagh, corporate administration director Mr Jim Cooke, production director and Mr Des Bury, personnel manager.
