The United States and the Internationals shared the Presidents Cup today in a dramatic finale.

The two sides had finished level on 17 points each after the final singles matches and Tiger Woods and Ernie Els then halved three holes of a sudden-death playoff.

In the gathering gloom both sides agreed after a series of discussions a tie was the best solution.

Internationals non-playing captain Gary Player said: "We have tied. Both teams hold the Cup." The US had been the sole holders.
