Former US president Mr Bill Clinton will today be received by the President, Mrs McAleese, at Aras an Uachtarain, as he continues his visit to the Republic and Northern Ireland.

This evening he will deliver the Independent lecture in Trinity College Dublin.

He is scheduled to have a private meeting with the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, tomorrow afternoon, and will later be the guest of honour at a gala event in Dublin Castle in recognition of his contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process.

The dinner will be attended by the Taoiseach, Senator George Mitchell, and 200 guests drawn from the business community, the entertainment world and public life who are each paying a substantial sum to attend the function.

The money raised will be donated to the Northern Ireland Fund for Reconciliation.

On Thursday, Mr Clinton will receive an honorary Doctorate in Law from Queen's University, Belfast, for services to peace in Northern Ireland, at a special graduation ceremony in his honour.

An academic procession will be led by Senator Mitchell, chancellor of the university.

Mr Clinton will attend a concert at the Waterfront Hall, where the pianist and conductor Barry Douglas will perform.

The concert in the Waterfront Hall will feature a specially-commissioned new work.

The former US president will visit Fermanagh at the invitation of the Fermanagh Trust.
