Boxing:  Floyd Mayweather says Ricky Hatton's pressure tactics will backfire on the Hitman when they finally get in the ring together on December 8th.

The pair lock horns at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in one of the most eagerly-awaited bouts in recent history.

Hatton has already gone on record as saying he'll bid to end Mayweather's perfect pro record by not allowing him a second's peace.

That approach worked perfectly during the biggest win of his career against Kostya Tszyu in the summer of 2005.

And Hatton also points to the fact that Jose Luis Castillo - another pressure fighter - gave Mayweather his toughest test to date.

Hatton himself stopped Castillo inside four rounds earlier this year.

The 'Pretty Boy' though is distinctly unimpressed by all those arguments, and says being under pressure will only spur him to greater levels of brilliance.

And he claims Castillo, who Hatton faced in June, was shop-worn and lacking in motivation.

"I fought Castillo six years ago. He went out there against Hatton knowing he's not getting any money. Why should he go 12 rounds when he's not getting a payday.

"When he punched Castillo to the body he turned round and went to one knee. He (Hatton) is a pretty good fighter but he can't even compare himself to Oscar De La Hoya. He hasn't achieved what Oscar's achieved, not even close to it. He went to 147 and didn't even really win a title at 147."

"On December 8th we welcome the pressure. We fight better going backwards."

According to Mayweather's long-time business advisor Leonard Ellerbe, many fighters have already tried to pressure Floyd into defeat.

And he says Hatton's attempt, just like those before him, will end in defeat come December 8th.

"A number of great trainers have worked with Floyd's opponents and they all think that's the way to make Floyd feel uncomfortable. They've all tried and they all come up with the same results."
