Publicans will soon be required to display their prices outside their premises, it was confirmed yesterday.
At a briefing, the Minister of State for Consumer affairs, Mr Tom Kitt, said: "I believe that consumers must be given fair warning of the prices being charged before they enter a pub."
Under an order made in 1976, publicans are required to display their prices inside their premises but unlike their counterparts in the restaurant trade, do not have to do so outside.
