A Catholic priest is to stand, trial next month on 19 charges, of sexually abusing two young, boys. Father Edward Kilpatrick (52) denies sexually abusing two young boys when he served as a curate in Derry between 1975 and 1981.

Last week his defence team, applied to Judge Tom Burgess in Derry Crown Court to have the case dismissed when it was discovered jurors and prosecution and defence witnesses had shared the same seating area in a room in the court.

In a reserved judgment yesterday, Judge Burgess said last week's events at the Crown Court were administrative errors. He said the court had taken into consideration a new jury panel would be available.
