Prison officer in court over contraband

A prison officer has appeared in court on 14 charges of supplying contraband to prisoners at Mountjoy.

A prison officer has appeared in court on 14 charges of supplying contraband to prisoners at Mountjoy.

Dillon O’Brien (36), with an address at Charnwood Meadows, Clonsilla, Dublin 15, appeared at Dublin District Court this morning to face the charges.

It is claimed he supplied mobile phones on several occasions, a bottle of vodka as well as cocaine and diamorphine.

Judge Miriam Malone remanded him in custody with consent to bail to appear again on August 26th.

Four other men who appeared on conspiracy charges at Dublin District Court today. They were: Sean Hinchon (30), 22 St Ronan’s Close, Clondalkin, Dublin 22; Thomas Hinchon (28), 22 St Ronan’s Close, Clondalkin, Dublin 22; Paul Dixon (27), with an address at 13 Valeview drive, Finglas, Dublin 11; and Nigel Curran (32), with an address at 11 Corduff Gardens, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.

Judge Malone remanded all four to appear again July 29th next.
