A number of prison officers in Northern Ireland are "very bitter" about the Belfast Agreement and may attempt to undermine it, the acting governor of the Maze prison, Mr Martin Mogg, told the Commons Northern Ireland Affairs Committee last night.
As the DUP MP, Mr Peter Robinson, condemned security at the Maze, the chief executive of the Northern Ireland Prison Service, Mr Alan Shannon, admitted that if prison officers had been at "war" with republican prisoners in the Maze, the IRA would not have called its 1994 ceasefire.
