Another 20 Limerick prison officers are to be given details of any information concerning them which is stored on a computer in the prisoners' library, the High Court was told yesterday.

An earlier court hearing was informed that the prison authorities had agreed to disclose to three officers the information concerning them which is on the computer. The computer had been in the office of the prison governor, but was moved to the library.

In the earlier case, the three officers took proceedings against the prison authorities. They said they feared for their safety and claimed that the authorities did not comply with an initial request to disclose the relevant information.

Subsequently, the authorities agreed that all the information on the computer would be disclosed and that the officers would also be told who could have gained access to the information. Yesterday Mr Michael McMahon SC told the court that the authorities had largely complied with the agreement. The authorities had also agreed to make similar provisions for another 20 officers.
