A pro-Belfast Agreement pressure group has urged politicians taking part in Senator George Mitchell's review to "respect the wishes of the majority of people living in Northern Ireland".

The cross-community group, People Moving On, said an overwhelming number of ordinary citizens were tired of politicians from both sides of the political divide failing to implement the agreement.

The group's spokeswoman, Ms Meta Auden, said she wanted to help secure a peaceful and tolerant future for her own children and all the North's young people.

She said a demonstration would be held tomorrow in Belfast city centre at which people could sign a book of appreciation for the former Northern Secretary, Dr Mo Mowlam.

Ms Auden added: "This is a crucial time in our talks and we very much appreciate the pressure our politicians are under. But we do urge them to find a solution, because there is no Plan B.

"The Belfast Agreement is our best and only chance for peace, and I know I speak for all when I say this is what the people want. "Everybody is listening to the politicians, from George Mitchell to our new Secretary of State, Peter Mandelson. But we are asking that they also listen to us."
