Tesco Ireland has issued a product recall for a batch of its own-brand vitamin E toner.
The company said a "manufacturing problem" had led to "a potential safety issue" with the beauty product.
The affected product is the 150 ml bottle of Tesco Vitamin E Toner, batch code: 03063 D. The batch code can by found next to the barcode.
A customer services representative said this was "purely a precautionary measure" as it had been discovered that the product did not meet the necessary high standard.
Asked if women who had already used the product had been exposed to any danger, she said "no, not at all".
The company was erring on the safe side by withdrawing that particular batch.
Customers who had bought the product were requested to return it to any Tesco store, she said. A full refund would be given.
Tesco Ireland has placed advertisements in the daily newspapers and has apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused. It has also provided a freephone number (1800-248- 123) for customers who have any queries about the product or its recall.
