Contempt proceedings against the West Dublin TD, Mr Liam Lawlor, have been postponed until next month, writes Paul Cullen.

Mr Justice Smyth of the High Court will now consider Mr Lawlor's alleged failure to co-operate with the Flood tribunal on January 8th.

The case was originally scheduled for next weekend but the new date was agreed on Christmas Eve to give Mr Lawlor's legal team more time to prepare. Mr Lawlor was stood down as a tribunal witness earlier this month after Mr Justice Flood said it was clear that he had failed to comply with the order.

Meanwhile, the congregation at midnight Mass in Adam & Eve's Franciscan priory in Dublin on Christmas Eve were challenged to "understand the Liam Lawlor and C.J. Haughey" in themselves.
