A dispute over entitlement to the proceeds of the sale of a New York apartment bought by U2 bassist Adam Clayton’s former personal assistant has been settled at the High Court.
The apartment, at 300 Rector Place, New York, was bought by Carol Hawkins with Mr Clayton’s money for $465,000.
Ms Hawkins, Crannagh Road, Dublin 14, was sentenced last July to seven years in prison for stealing €2.8 million of Mr Clayton’s money. She is appealing both conviction and sentence.
The apartment was sold, and €193,000 was held in a bank account in the names of lawyers representing the different parties. Ms Hawkins’s lawyers claimed they were entitled to be paid more than €70,000 from the account but Mr Clayton argued he was entitled to the full amount in the account.
The judge adjourned the case until yesterday when it was struck out with no order.
