European Commission President said today that inflation was under control in the euro zone although there had been price rises in certain sectors.
"Over the past few months the whole process is now coming to an end," Mr Prodi told a news conference, speaking of the end of the first year of the launch of the new cash currency.
"We're left with the euro and we're left with a situation where we are really able to control inflation, so this is a very successful operation, with of course the limitations we have always referred to," he added.
However, he noted that there had been some unjustified price rises in certain sectors.
