GARDAI in Limerick last night reported "steady progress" in their investigation into the murder of father of eight Sean Colbert (53), in the city in the early hours of Friday morning.
However, the Garda confirmed no arrests have been made.
Mr Colbert, whose funeral takes place today, died after he was shot at around 1.30 a.m. as he entered, this home at Lenihan Avenue, Prospect. He died from a shotgun blast.
He is believed to have been the victim of a "contract killer" hired by a local criminal. Mr Colbert had no criminal background but had allowed his personal life to become entangled with that of the criminal.
Gardai said they were following a definite line of inquiry. "We are making steady progress with our house to house inquiries and the response from the public has been very good," said Insp Frank O'Brien.
Insp O'Brien confirmed gardai had spoken to Mr Colbert a number of times in the last couple of months in connection with another attack which occurred last Christmas.
