Tributes have been paid to Vera Quinlan, who died on Sunday. Ms Quinlan, North Circular Road, Limerick, was a former president of Lahinch Golf Club in Clare, a former captain at Castletroy Golf Club in Limerick and a former president of the women’s Munster golf branch.
Nollie McCarthy, current women’s captain at Lahinch, said Ms Quinlan “did an awful lot for golf in the midwest”.
Her funeral Mass takes place at 11am today at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Ennis Road, Limerick, with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery in Castlemungret.
Mrs Quinlan, who was in her late 80s, is survived by her husband Arthur, a former midwest correspondent with The Irish Times; her twin sister Mary; their son Tom and daughters Ann and Joy.
