World Indoors:Ireland's Kelly Proper has missed out on a place in the long jump final at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Qatar after clearing 6.29 metres on her final jump in Doha.

In difficult conditions, that saw none of the competitors jump the required distance for automatic qualification (6.65m), Proper finished 16th of 22.

It was well short of her personal best of 6.62m, one centimetre more than today’s best jump by Portugal’s Naide Gomes, who qualified along with seven other athletes.

There was disappointment for men’s 4x400m relay team as they finished last (sixth) in Heat 1.
