Former workers at the Vita Cortex plant in Cork had something to celebrate yesterday following the premature birth of twin girls.
Newborn twins Chloe and Aimee were born two weeks early to former worker Ger O’Flynn and his wife Denise.
Delighted staff – who are staging a sit-in protest – sent warm wishes to the parents of the new arrivals, and to their daughter Kellie (6).
The news filtered through to workers continuing the protest at the plant yesterday following a short St Stephen’s Day labour. The two healthy girls were born by Caesarean section at 11.56am.
“Denise woke up in the morning and felt she was getting ready to go so we went straight to the hospital. It was quick. The babies were born by noon, so we didn’t have much time to think,” Mr O’Flynn said.
