Lunch-time drinkers will also be targeted as officers plan a series of high profile operations.

Last Christmas, 602 motorists were caught drink-driving in the North, and the PSNI is promising rigorous enforcement over the coming weeks.

Last year almost 1,500 motorists were caught drink-driving on Northern Ireland's roads.

Environment Minister Arlene Foster said this autumn she was considering reducing the drink driving limits in line with other European countries but below the rest of the United Kingdom.

The legal limit in the United Kingdom is 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.
