Police in the North seized several million pounds of counterfeit goods during a new operation against organised crime yesterday.

One man was being questioned after he was arrested during a raid in Jonesborough in south Armagh.

Cigarettes, fireworks, alcohol, clothing, DVDs and computer games were all taken during searches in the village and on surrounding roads. A dozen vehicles were also seized as officers from the organised crime branch of the Police Service of Northern Ireland's (PSNI), assisted by experts from the Federation Against Copyright Theft, raided properties and outbuildings.

They moved in after police detected a number of stalls and articulated trailers suspected of selling illegal goods that breached copyright and counterfeiting laws.
