A public hearing of the Dunnes (Payments to Politicians) Inquiry will take place on October 28th to hear applications for costs. One issue to be decided will be if former Taoiseach Mr Charles Haug hey should be awarded costs; it is not known if he will be applying. A spokeswoman for his solicitors, Ivor Fitzpatrick & Co, had no comment. The tribunal has not as yet decided if it will continue with an appeal it has lodged in the Cayman Islands. It is likely the decision will be taken before the October 28th hearing.

The largest costs are expected to be awarded to Mr Ben Dunne, Dunnes Stores, the Dunnes trustees, Guinness & Mahon bank, Irish Intercontinental Bank, and Mr Michael Lowry. Mr Haughey's costs would be among the largest.
